the process of goals and growth

quote attributed to rupi kaur
to all of my fellow dreamers who feel daunted yet daring as you enter 2023:
hi. i'm so happy to travel through this next year together.
i feel as though it can be so easy to get swept up in the beginning of a new year. all of the friends and peers posting their yearly recap or the word they're going to implement into every little thing over the next year.
it becomes so easy that, i believe, we so often forget the progress we made up until now. and while the calendar new year is a great time to re-evaluate and give ourselves the fresh start we need, it's also okay to continue on in the process you've already embarked on.
today's culture gives us the mindset that we need to move with the flow of the culture around us. in doing so, we often leave our past progress or goals at the wayside and pick up newer goals that have no true tie to the healing we were hoping for.
please don't misunderstand my saying this as resentment towards new goals. oftentimes, in the midst of new or changing circumstances, they're fruitful in the process of our moving forward. but when we find ourselves in the average everyday, it's okay to stay true to the goals and dreams you had long ago.
everyone has differing opinions on the best types of goals. at this point in my life, i perceive emotional, mental, and spiritual health to be of the most critical to both personal and communal well-being. to get to that point is also where we may differ, as not everyone needs the same process to become healthy in these ways.
when it comes to healing, everyone is on their own journey. we all perceive our experiences differently, though those experiences may be super similar. and we all hold on to those experiences with different strength as well. for those similar to me, you might have a tight hold on the memories or experiences you find yourself in, which can make it harder to heal.
these differences are what makes trauma so difficult to maneuver and understand. our fast-paced world doesn't help this understanding either, as so many are resistant to the slow and respectful approach in understanding others' trauma.
so here's the freedom i want to give the rest of my dreamers, those who may feel the need to create new goals or start a new path...
you are free to continue in the journey you already are on.
you are released from any outside expectations of creating or forging a new path forward.
you are welcome to take on new dreams at any time that is good for you.
let's trek forward to our healing and health that we've been pursuing all along.
after all, you, your dreams, and your desires are worthy of being completed .
you are worthy of the wholeness you've been striving for all along.
